From the very first day Candy's foster carers were smitten by this sweet girl's gentle and loving nature. They especially love her leaning on their legs asking for connection with her beautiful imploring eyes looking up at them.

Candy is active and inquisitive, following her foster family everywhere they go, wanting to know what's going on and if she can join in. She is fine around the children in the family.

Her favourite part of the day is walk time and she dances with excitement if anyone walks towards the cupboard where the leashes are kept. She has even learnt how to open that cupboard and take out the doggy Cafe mat that she knows comes on walks if we're stopping at a cafe. She enjoys a half hour walk every day. And out on walks, Candy is still learning how to be a pet and sometimes jumps like a rabbit with excitement, but can also walk with a loose leash and enjoys stopping to explore new things and meet new people. Candy loves the car and travels well. She recently enjoyed an Easter break camping on private property.

Candy has spent a lot of time in foster care with medium to large breeds of dogs, including another Greyhound, Huskies, a Kelpie, Shepherds and even a large puppy. She loves to play, respectfully play-bowing to ask the other dogs if she can join in before joyfully and gently playing with the other dogs. But these are medium/large breeds and not small dogs.

Although 8 years, this sweet girl is still learning to be a pet and her enthusiasm for life can make her act a little like a puppy while she learns the house rules. But we think she will not take long to adapt to the rhythm of her new family.

She is house trained and sleeps happily through the night on her comfy dog bed until the humans get up, but likes to know where the humans are by padding down the hallway for one last pat before she goes off to bed.

HEALTH: Candy has the eye condition Panus and requires one drop in each eye every day to control it. The drops are easy to sdminister as Candy stands quietly to have the soothing drops. Candy came to R2R in poor condition, so she is still gaining weight slowly.
