- A grassed yard for zoomies
Allan is a very good boy with the GOOFIEST overbite, who adores being anywhere his humans are. He walks very well on a leash and is easily prompted to continue walking when a good sniff distracts him for too long. A brisk 20 minute walk is enough to tire him out. Allan has welcomed all the humans who come to visit his home and enjoys all the extra pats he gets, but he hasn't had a chance to hang out with many little humans yet. He’s still learning about all other dogs - small, medium and large, so he will definitely benefit from further doggie socialisation as well as having a confident owner who can show him the way. That being said, we have seen him improve significantly since he’s been in our foster care. Motorbikes and bicycles can make him nervous also, but he’s very good at being prompted to keep walking. We live near Sydney Road, and he seems unfazed by the sounds of dogs barking, cars roaring past or people heading home after a night out.
We lovingly refer to Allan as our noodle-shaped shadow, as he likes to follow you around, and just hang in whatever room you happen to be in. He loves to lie on all things soft and fluffy, and will let you know if he thinks his bed is too uncomfortable. It took him a few weeks to muster up the courage to try jumping on a couch, but it was love at first nap, and he has since completed his Masters of Couch Potato. Although he loves to be with you at all times, he can be left alone for 5+ hours without any issue. He has mastered the art of holding his ones and twos until he’s in the backyard. He also drives quite well, and is very content to lie down and chill out in the car, and has had no trouble getting in or out by himself.
We feel Allan will fit well into the lifestyle of people who work full time, but he does love human company and would be just as happy seeing people during the daytime. He copes well by himself and LOVES all the plush chewy toys you can give him, and a backyard to zoom around in. He loves to chase a ball and play fetch, and he brings the ball back most of the time. He seems absolutely content being by himself, but he may also be open to sharing a home with another greyhound.
