If you are looking for a small hound that just wants to be with you all the time – then Hunter is your boy! He likes to start the day by playing with his soft toys and enjoys pouncing on them if you throw them in the air for him. He will also chase a ball, although returning it to you still needs some work!
He would enjoy children in a family to toss his toys, although over 9 years might be advisable, as he an be fairly energetic in his play.

Hunter is a confident boy who is super friendly towards anyone he meets. He is up for any adventure as traffic noise, or crowds of people don’t faze him. He’s a very smart dog and learns commands and boundaries quickly. He loves his daily walks and walks well on leash. He is fine with larger dogs, but he still needs more socialization around small dogs, although he walks past them on the street without anything more than staring at them. So ideally an owner who has previously owned a dog. He travels well in the car and lies down for the journey. He will jump into the car if offered a treat!

At home he just wants to snooze beside you and so makes a very loyal companion. He has a sweet nature and really enjoys attention. He is a boy who laps up cuddles, pats, and head rubs. But if you are in the garden, he will also happily keep you company.

Hunter feels the cold more than most greyhounds and you will find him curled into such a tiny ball if he is cold – but once the heater is turned on, he unfolds into various roaching positions like a flower blossoming! He is so amusing to watch when sleeping as he has so many roaching positions that he contorts himself into. Naturally he is toilet-trained and sleeps right through the night.

He is currently living with two male greyhounds, and he gets on well with them, enjoying games and chasey together. So, while he would enjoy the company of another greyhound – it is humans that he loves the most.

Hunter would be best suited someone who works from home or is mostly at home. He is not destructive in the house and so would ideally be left inside with access to outdoors when he is home alone. As long as he gets his daily walk, a big yard is not essential.
