Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- a good size yard so Pete can stretch his legs or chase a ball!
- people are home most of the time (unless he has a medium/large doggie companion)
- no children under 10 years
Pete is the perfect companion; he is loving, super affectionate, smart and has a wonderful personality that will always keep you entertained. And he is a strikingly handsome boy with the most beautiful big eyes that melt your heart.
He is absolutely loving pet life and is quickly adapting to the changes in routine and lifestyle. He has mastered our doggy door (taking himself out to toilet, to have a lay in the sunshine or a quick play with his toys), is sleeping through the night (initially on his bed in our bedroom but now happily sleeping on his bed in the lounge room), eating well (loves food, even raw carrots!), enjoying his daily walks and has been happily meeting other dogs and people along the way.
Pete is happy to be a lounge lizard most of the time but gets enthusiastic and excited at times (feed and walkies time, or when you come home after being out), and he has happy tail. He is also very playful and loves to play with toys. Given his size and bursts of excitement, he may unintentionally knock over small children so he would be better suited to a home without children or older teenage children.
While in foster care he enjoyed the company of another greyhound and they got along very well, but he could also be happy as a solo dog. What he does crave though is human attention and would therefore be suited to a home where people are home most of the time and they enjoy including him in their daily life, including snuggling with you on the couch.
Pete is doing well on 2 walks per day (sometimes 3) and is like an excited puppy when you make any move toward the lead. But the minute you clip it on, he calms down and walks nicely. He does like to walk at a good clip, so the humans get a reasonable work out too. If you are happy to walk at a good pace, he will walk nicely just in front of you on a loose lead. On occasion something may take his interest, so he is still learning to curb his enthusiasm a little particularly when he wants to meet another dog or human.
Pete would love a home that has a good size yard so he can stretch his legs and chase a ball or play with his toys. This would also help manage his energy levels, otherwise, he would need to be in a home where he could have at least 2 walks per day.
Pete is going to be a wonderful pet and would thrive in a home where he can become part of the family, share the couch and get lots of love and affection. In return, he will be a the most loyal dog who will never miss an opportunity to share with you his beautiful cuddles.
