Sarge is a beautiful, loving boy with tons of personality. He loves his walks and will walk for an hour
and a half or two hours at a time if allowed to, though he is quite content with about 30 minutes of
walking a day. He walks exceptionally well on lead and will even match pace when jogging or
He loves his car rides, and will make a bee line for any open car door he sees, and he loves the
chance of an open window to feel the wind on his snoot and soak up all the fast moving smells.
He is a very smart boy, and is quite food motivated, so his foster family have been able to teach him
to sit, lie down, shake, and even wait to eat dinner while it's right in front of him.
Sarge is very well mannered when meeting other dogs, though he wasn't always this way, and his
foster family have put in significant effort to socialise him with different sizes and breeds of dogs
during his stay with them. Like many greyhounds, if a dog is too boisterous for him (jumping on him
or nipping at him when he does not want to play) he will let them know with a soft growl but he
does not lunge or snap.
Sarge is quite talkative about many things. He will remind you promptly if dinner is running late with
a husky-like howl-whine hybrid. He will also remind you when it is time for breakfast if you are
sleeping in! He will also helpfully let you know when he needs to go outside to toilet by whining or
barking at the door. He is very well toilet trained and has never had an accident in all the time with
his foster family.
Though he loves his pats and to be near you, Sarge is quite an independent dog, and seems to cope
okay even when alone for 8 hours. Because of this, he would be very well suited to full time working
adopters and is best as a solo greyhound. We think he would do well with a medium to large yard, as he loves to play fetch and zoom around.
