Personality
Nellie is an incredibly affectionate and loving dog who adores cuddles, pats, and spending time with her people. She will happily follow you around the house in search of extra attention and always greets her family with excitement when they come home. One of her favourite activities is curling up on the couch for cuddles and playtime with her humans. If you stop patting her too soon, she'll happily remind you that she would like more!

Playfulness
Nellie loves playing with toys and enjoys daily zoomies. She has a fun-loving and playful nature that brings plenty of entertainment and joy to her home.

Walking on Lead
Nellie absolutely loves her walks and is always excited to head out and explore. At the moment, walks are often more of a "follow Nellie" adventure, but she is making wonderful progress with her lead manners every day. She is learning to follow directions and, with gentle encouragement and patience, is gradually becoming more confident exploring new places and environments.

Energy Levels
Nellie is an energetic greyhound who enjoys daily walks, playtime, and her signature zoomies. She would thrive in a home where she can enjoy regular exercise and a grassed yard where she can stretch her legs, play with her toys, and burn off some energy.

People and Children
Nellie is a sweet girl who is steadily building confidence around new people. She can be shy when meeting strangers and prefers to take her time getting to know someone, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate and playful personality shines through. As she can become quite excited and boisterous when happy, she would be best suited to a home with children over 8 years old, as younger children could be accidentally knocked over during her enthusiastic greetings and play.

Other Dogs
Nellie loves the company of other greyhounds and is very comfortable around them. She is currently more reserved and cautious around dogs of other breeds, as she has had limited exposure to them so far. With patient introductions and positive experiences, her confidence may continue to grow.

Busy and Noisy Environments
Nellie is a sensitive girl who can find busy streets and noisy environments overwhelming. She is slowly gaining confidence and making progress, but she will need a patient and understanding adopter who can continue supporting her through gentle exposure and positive experiences. When she feels unsure, she may stop and refuse to move forward until she feels comfortable.

Living as a Solo Dog & Time Home Alone
Nellie would be perfectly happy as an only dog and enjoys forming strong bonds with her people. While she appreciates the company of other greyhounds, she is currently in foster as a solo dog and does not require a canine companion in her new home.
Nellie can cope with being left at home during a typical working day, provided her physical and mental needs are met. She enjoys a walk before and after work to help burn off energy and settle comfortably. While she would much prefer human company during the day, she may adapt okay to a working household.

More Things to Know About Nellie
Nellie is a true character with plenty of charm and personality. Her favourite treats include sardines, pig's ears, peanut butter, and cheese. After enjoying sardines, she has earned the affectionate nickname "Smelly Nelly" thanks to her impressively smelly farts!
She is also lovingly known as "Heli Nelli" because of her constant greyhound chatter. When she's happy, excited, or seeking attention, she chatters her teeth so enthusiastically that it sounds like a helicopter preparing for take-off. It's one of her most adorable and endearing traits.
