We thought there were no Tasmanian Tigers in Victoria, but look at Crash’s remarkable colourings. He has a beautiful silky coat and a gorgeous little white senior face with expressive eyebrows.
Crash was adopted a few years ago and he has now returned to us when the person who loved him died. He has settled beautifully into foster care, learning a new routine easily.
Crash is a total SNAG (for those who don’t know - Sensitive New Age Guy). He can be a little timid so a nice quiet household would suit him just fine with the opportunity for lots of walks, food, naps and love. Crash is a snuggle bug and will accept any love offered. Crash does tend to pull on the lead at the beginning of a walk but that is because he just loves his walks. A walk offers the opportunity to do many many wees on anything vertical, lots of lovely smelling and lots of pats from our fellow walkers and neighbours. He does like a long walk in the morning and enjoys a couple of very short ones during the afternoon. The mention of the word “walk” and Crash actually dances!
Crash appears a little wary of other breed dogs. As long as they don’t bark or lunge at him, he is fine. He is a bit of sook when dogs bark at him from behind fences.
Crash knows the furniture is out of bounds in the lounge room. However he has tested the boundaries once or twice. I only need to look at him and he scuttles back to his bed!
Crash sleeps through the night and waits for an invitation into the bedroom in the morning for the mandatory morning ear rub prior to having breakfast. Car time is also one of his favourite times. He jumps into the wagon easily and settles down immediately for the fun ride.
He can be very vocal, making all sorts of funny noises, particularly if his dinner is not served at precisely 5.25pm. I expect he is clock watching.
Crash has been an only dog in foster care and has been left home alone for periods up to five hours, so we feel he may be okay with full time workers. When we arrive home from an outing, he is on his bed snoozing away. However a decent morning walk is essential.
Crash has been diagnosed with early stage kidney disease and has been transitioned to a kidney friendly diet. He is not on any medication and at this stage it should not shorten his life. A yearly blood test would monitor any progression.
Crash is a beautiful, quiet senior hound who asks for little and gives a lot. Once you have had a senior greyhound in your life, you will keep coming back for more.
