R2R are fortunate to find special people who will adopt a greyhound that is not your perfect super friendly non-reactive dog! They understand that with time and patience, their greyhound will become a beautiful pet.
And thankfully this was the case with Benji when he had a Meet & Greet back in October 2022. To backtrack, in 2021 Benji was a terrified 2yo black boy who hid at the end of the garden when he first came into R2R foster. He was an extreme ‘Spook’ and was simply terrified of ALL people, especially men. It took months to get him beyond the end of the driveway – as the moment he even just heard a voice, let alone saw a person – he dragged you straight home! But inside that frightened boy, Benji had the most beautiful, sweet playful personality and he loved playing with every new foster greyhound that came through his foster home. But he did break the record for the longest time in R2R foster of 454 days or 1 year, 3 mths!
R2R never gave up on finding Benji a forever home that would show him lots of love and build his trust and confidence!
Thanks to Francis and Dawn he finally got that chance - despite the fact that he tried to avoid getting any pats on his first M&G from these strangers with the cute little fawn greyhound, Sally!
Recently, Benji’s fostercarer, Derarca visited Benji in his wonderful home and heard firsthand how much further this gorgeous boy has blossomed! He has now been with his forever family much longer than in foster! He is pictured here with his family, and it fills the R2R team with joy to know that Benji could not be a happier boy.
